At The Vitamin Shoppe, our mission is to provide customers with the most trusted products, guidance, and services to help them become their best selves, however they define it.
As part of our commitment to holistic wellness, The Vitamin Shoppe is pledged to corporate social responsibility across environmental, social, philanthropic, and manufacturing commitments and practices.
The Vitamin Shoppe is committed to doing our part to maintain a healthy, sustainable environment, including recycling initiatives, reducing waste, and lowering our carbon footprint in our stores, our distribution centers, and our corporate headquarters. These efforts include:
- We sell reusable bags in our stores; encourage the use of email transaction receipts; repurpose in-store signage where possible, rather than reprinting new signs; operate single-stream recycling in many stores, and use environmentally friendly cleaning supplies.
- In our distribution centers, we have installed motion sensor lighting to reduce energy usage. We also recycle plastic and corrugate generated from our DC workflows.
- Our store in Manahawkin, NJ is Gold LEED Certified (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design). We always strive to use sustainable design and construction practices where possible in our new stores.
Diversity and Inclusion
The Vitamin Shoppe is a team of thousands of individuals from diverse and unique backgrounds, supporting communities across America with diverse and unique backgrounds. We have always strived to help people become their best selves, however they define it. Inherent in that mission is our belief that every person and every community is deserving of wellness.
Our dedication to wellness has always been holistic: body, mind, and spirit. And it’s imperative that we add other fundamental dimensions to our understanding of wellness: justice, fairness, and integrity.
We are committed to combatting discrimination and prejudice in every form, especially against communities of color that continue to face historic injustices. We pledge to bring different viewpoints together at The Vitamin Shoppe to ensure we uphold our commitment to wellness for all. We can listen more, do more, and be better for the communities we serve.
The Vitamin Shoppe is committed to the health and wellness of all of our customers and all of our communities. As a company and as a team of Health Enthusiasts, we support a number of charitable initiatives throughout the year, such as maternal health with Vitamin Angels, and children’s nutrition with Blessings in a Backpack. We also donated to hospitals and first responders during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Santa Barbara-based Vitamin Angels has been our principal philanthropic partner since 2007. Vitamin Angels believes the foundation for good health starts with the right prenatal nutrition. The organization provides essential prenatal multivitamins to support at-risk pregnant women and their babies across all 50 U.S. states and around the world.
Over the past 13 years, The Vitamin Shoppe has helped impact the lives of over 50 million children and moms through our support of Vitamin Angels. We raise funds for Vitamin Angels through our twice-a-year, in-store fundraisers as well as our annual golf event which brings together the wellness industry in support of Vitamin Angels and its life-changing mission.
Quality and Trust
We have the highest standards in the dietary supplement industry, producing our proprietary brand products with the most stringent attention to quality, service, and price. We want to ensure that our customers receive accurate information on dietary supplements so that they can make informed decisions about supporting and maintaining their health and wellness. We are committed to advertising and marketing that is substantiated under the requirements of both the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act as amended by the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act (DSHEA), and the Federal Trade Commission Act. Our customers can count on The Vitamin Shoppe to provide precise and reliable information about all of our products.
Our internal controls and procedures follow the requirements of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) regulations as regulated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Each of our products pass quality control tests.
To ensure the highest possible quality, we randomly send products to third party labs for verification of identity and purity. Any product that does not meet our exacting standards is removed from our shelves.
